Why would I do a chimney cleaning in during the Spring, when all thoughts of old man Winter are behind, and we are busy frolicking in fields of daisies and wildflowers? Well, OK, maybe we’re just going to work like usual, but you get the idea.
There are two main reasons to get a chimney swept at this time of year, but first let me ask you a question. What better time of year is there to sweep a chimney in ? In the middle of the Winter, while you are having fires? That’s fine and dandy, but you will have to refrain from having a fire the night before you have your intrepid chimney sweep come over for a visit. This may not be a problem for you, but why even bother your self and your schedule?
Here are the reasons.
1. You have to get the chimney cleaning done anyway, so why not get it over with while you are thinking about it? Then you don’t have to wonder for a whole year “Am I about to light my chimney on fire?” as you go to put in the kindling (or light the gas starter which is much more likely these days). When that first cold day hits in the Fall, you won’t have to stop and wonder if lighting the fire is going to be a safety issue. You will have a clear mind and conscience that you are all set to go.
2. There is a little bit of out gassing that occurs from the creosote as it sits in your chimney. I don’t know of any studies on the subject, and I’ve never heard of anyone dying from it, per se, but why have it in your house if you don’t have to? Your body has to deal with enough environmental toxins already. Why have some in your house that can easily be removed.
Then you have a nice summer of breathing clean air and you are all set burn it up come Winter. So pick up the phone and call 770-285-0551. When it comes to chimney cleaning , we are the ones you can count on.
